# Alice (chat)

> Ask your project questions and get cited answers.

Alice sits at the bottom right of every view. She answers from your project's actual record — not from a general impression of it — and cites what she used.

## What to ask

* *"Where are we?"*
* *"What needs me?"*
* *"Why did we decide to use Postgres?"*
* *"What happened on the payments work last week?"*
* *"What is this module for?"* — with the factory map open

If the record cannot answer, she says so. An honest "we never wrote that down" is worth more than a confident guess, and it tells you exactly what to capture next.

## Controls

| Action                   | How              |
| ------------------------ | ---------------- |
| Send                     | `Enter`          |
| Push to talk             | Hold `Space`     |
| Dictate on/off           | `Ctrl`/`⌘` + `D` |
| Grow or shrink the panel | `e`              |
| Close the panel          | `Esc`            |

Chat also pops out into its own window if you would rather keep it beside the map.

## Asking about a module

Open a module on the [factory map](/using/factory-map) and ask your question there. The answer is grounded in that module's real files and connections, and it shows you the receipts — which files and records it read.
